Position: Tech - Echo Sonographer

POSITION SUMMARY: The Echo Sonographer is responsible for the day-to-day operations (patient flow) and efficiency of the Echo department. The technologist must have knowledge of all areas within the Echo Department and
must utilize the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. The Echo Sonographer performs ultrasound examinations according to the currently accepted practices of the ARDMS and
Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The technologist will prepare technical reports, exam rooms, equipment and supplies for procedures. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists the Cardiologist and Staff Physicians with test.
• Demonstrates Echo Sonography skills needed for all positions.
• Demonstrates good patient care.
• Utilizes the appropriate leadership skill in supervising students and providing feedback concerning student performance.
• Demonstrates good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Is a professional role model for personnel.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
• The ultrasound technologist will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precaution.
• The ultrasound technologist will comply with appropriate and approved standards relating to patients, infection control, and environmental issues

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiology Credentialing International (CCI) attempted within 18 – 24 months of hire date.

4. Ability to show organization and leadership
5. Ability to respond to pages
6. Near-Visual acuity and depth perception to examine exposed films for detail
7. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
8. Bending and lifting (50-75 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling
9. Electrical and radiant energy hazards are present
10. Exposure to infectious organisms, agent, and toxic chemicals
