North Spring Academy is looking for  dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teachers to provide short-term classroom coverage and ensure continuity of instruction. This is a flexible opportunity where you can  support students, gain valuable experience, and work in a dynamic educational environment.

Your Role as a Substitute Teacher

  • Engage & Educate – Deliver lessons according to the classroom teacher’s plans.
  • Classroom Management – Implement effective behavioral systems and trauma-informed care strategies.
  • Student Support – Provide accommodations for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaboration – Work closely with paraprofessionals and school staff to create a structured, safe learning environment.
  • Behavioral Support – Potential cross-training as a  Mental Health Technician (MHT)to provide additional student support.
  • Crisis Management – Respond to situations and assist students in maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must complete paraprofessional training during new hire orientation.
  • Must pass a competency test assessing foundational math, reading, and writing skills administered by the school principal.
  • Upon hire, must successfully complete an online course (6 hour training) on Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Prior experience working with students with or without disabilities or in an educational setting is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, grade levels, subjects, and student needs.
  • Comfortability learning the basic use of instructional technology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.
