Respiratory Therapist - Louisiana (#R10099)

Location:  Various locations across Louisiana (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Thibodaux, Hammond, Monroe, Bossier City)
Employment Type:  Per Diem (Emergency Staffing)
Hourly Rate:  $36.00/hr (estimated)

Position Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist will provide critical respiratory care during state-declared emergencies, working in settings such as  Medical Special Needs Shelters (MSNS), urgent care centers, and Temporary Medical Operation Staging Areas (TMOSA).

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license
  • Experience: 1+ years in respiratory care required
  • Technical Skills: Patient assessments, diagnostic testing, respiratory treatments, life support management
  • Soft Skills: Critical thinking, adaptability, teamwork, patient education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments and diagnostic tests (pulmonary function, ABG analysis)
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments and medications
  • Manage mechanical ventilation and life support systems
  • Monitor and document patient progress
  • Educate patients on respiratory health management
  • Maintain equipment and follow infection control protocols
