Organization

Boys and Girls Country’s mission is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing children in a Christian home, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. Boys and Girls Country serves boys and girls aged five to eighteen and 13 young adults in our College and Career program. Boys and Girls Country is located 35 miles northwest of Houston (). 

Position Summary (Full Time)

The Receptionist reports to the Director of Development and serves as the first point of contact with visitors and donors, both in person and on the phone. The Receptionist assists individuals by responding to routine questions, providing general information, answering the main phone, and performing administrative duties as assigned. The Receptionist must be responsible, reliable, and able to manage his/her time effectively while remaining attentive to the office's requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

· Answers incoming telephone calls in a timely manner and transfers calls to appropriate staff members or Cottage. Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voicemail when staff members are unavailable. Retrieves messages from voicemail and forwards to appropriate staff members or cottages

· Answers general questions about the organization and provides callers with the organization's address, directions, and other information, as needed

· Welcomes visitors, offers refreshments, determines the nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate staff members. Offer refreshments to visitors waiting to see staff members.

· Monitors visitor access and has them sign in when they arrive on campus and sign out when they depart the campus

· Assists and directs guests with donation drop-offs and offers them a donation receipt.

· Oversees the appearance and utility of the facility, including common areas (lobby, kitchen, conference rooms, copiers, printers, fax, and work areas). Maintains supply closet and ensures it is organized and properly replenished

· Oversees all mail duties, including but not limited to – receiving, sorting, and placing in staff mailboxes. This also includes outgoing mail management, receipt of packages, notification of package deliveries, and their management. Receiving forwarded mail and forwarding to former employee(s)

Development Team

· Participates in signature events

· Remains current on required training

· Assists with other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will possess the following:

· Strong focus on details and accuracy, along with customer service skills

· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to vary communication strategy and tactics to meet the needs of varied constituents

· Ability to work efficiently on several projects simultaneously and prioritize deadlines.

· Strong customer service skills and a willingness to undertake necessary tasks as part of the job

Qualifications

 

· High School Diploma or GED minimum, college degree preferred or related experience

· Preferred experience in the nonprofit sector, customer service, and/or administrative support

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing

· Excellent organizational and time management skills essential

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Ability to work independently with little supervision

· Excellent Microsoft Office skills required
