Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply

Duties

• VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package

• Duties include but are not limited to the following: PA -WHC practices comprehensive care for women Veterans
• PA is proficient in all aspects of the primary care of women veterans - including - but not limited to pelvic/breast exams
• contraception counseling and management
• management of osteoporosis - menopause - pelvic pain - abnormal uterine bleeding - and sexually transmitted diseases
• in addition to screening for breast and cervical cancer or - a history of sexual trauma
• Assessment - skills - and breadth of knowledge must be superior to provide for the clinical needs for this population of Veterans served
• In addition - the high prevalence of dual diagnosis patients in the WHC requires that the clinician have special skills in identifying mental health needs - collaborating with a multidisciplinary mental health team and effectively negotiate and communicate with women veterans with mental health diagnosis
• PA collaborates with the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) as assigned for Primary Care needs
• The incumbent provides veteran-centered - accessible care with a high degree of continuity
• PA incorporates new models of practice - such a telephone care - secure messaging - and group clinics
• Due to the high prevalence of sexual and other forms of trauma among women Veterans - the PA has special skills in addressing these issues and mental health conditions in a sensitive fashion
• The Physician Assistant (PA) provides a full range of gender specific services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission
• The PA provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management of patients in Women's Health Clinics - Gynecological Clinics - and the Operating Room as a first assist to the Gynecologist (GYN)
• The PA is responsible for the care and administrative needs for the GYN patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting
• These primary areas of responsibility will involve performance of - and documentation of health care delivery for veterans according to VHA standards
• Customer Services Requirements: Meets the needs of customers while supporting the medical center and service missions
• Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients - visitors - volunteers - and all medical center staff) in a courteous - tactful - and respectful manner
• Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures
• Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately
