Role Overview:
The Mail Room Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems for a large government office building. This individual will conduct inspections, carry out minor repairs, liaise with contractors as needed, maintain building safety systems, and support security access controls. The role requires on-call availability for after-hours maintenance and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and perform minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Conduct preventive maintenance and maintain related documentation.
Perform life safety inspections and support building janitorial contract oversight.
Maintain the building's security system and program security access cards.
Assist with office relocations, furniture assembly, and coordination with contractors.
Required Skills & Experience:
Commercial building maintenance experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience in facility maintenance and repair.
Proficiency with tools and equipment for skilled trades work.
Ability to climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read blueprints and take accurate measurements.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to pass pre-employment screening including background and MVR check.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with electric motors, generators, and security access systems.
Strong PC/computer skills.
Additional Details:
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. Occasional on-call assignment required.
