Information Security Technician

Position Summary:

The Information Security Technician will be responsible for covering the IT Desktop Support during 2nd shift and provides technical support in cybersecurity and the application of tools and processes required to protect Johnny's Selected Seeds assets. This position is focused on providing the highest level of desktop technical support and will address issues elevated from Tier I support, as well as new problems reported from the customer base. Work involves day-to-day interaction with all levels of the organization providing technical assistance to staff with both equipment and software. The qualified candidate performs network and system risk management support activities, including monitoring security system logs and network activity for unusual or concerning behavior. The candidate will also assist with analyzing and troubleshooting network traffic and performance issues and reports or escalate issues to management as required.

Responsibilities:

• Acts as the point of contact for technology service requests as required.
• Identify evolving problems and recommend remediation / prevention options.
• Supports and assists with infrastructure and application changes and troubleshooting as necessary.
• Security Software Implementation: Install, configure, and maintain security software and tools, such as firewalls, antivirus programs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
• Security Patching: Ensure that systems and software are up to date with the latest security patches and updates to mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Monitors security systems and other relevant security logs to review for threats, anomalies, intrusions, and/or abnormal connection behavior. Investigates, reports, and escalates issues as required to Cybersecurity staff and management.
• Supports regular and special reporting and analysis, including reports of vulnerabilities, risks, control deficiencies, remediation strategies, and performance metrics.
• Review external threat intelligence feeds from cybersecurity agencies; sends alerts and coordinates with responsible parties to patch elevated risk vulnerabilities.
• Helps maintain configuration records and documentation, including security operations and maintenance, incident control, cyber incident response procedures, and other standards, policies, and procedures.
• Provide security reports to management by collecting and analyzing data and trends.
• Work with IT managers to assess and identify security compliance gaps and propose technical and operational remediation solutions.
• Attend seminars and conferences regularly to update field knowledge and expertise.

Education:

• Associate's degree in computer information systems
• Two years of work experience in cybersecurity

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience with security systems administration and network security
• Ability to work independently and resolve issues
• Familiarity with routers and switches
• Knowledge of research techniques and information security policies
• Accurate attention to detail and thorough organization skills
• Strong background in network security, computer systems, and the information security

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Capable of frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing, and standing.
