Grades 3-8 Learning Resource Teacher

St. Matthias Parish School is seeking a full-time Learning Resource Teacher to provide support for students with academic needs in grades 3-8. The ideal candidate possesses strong classroom management skills and confidence in academic instruction and intervention.  The Learning Resource Teacher will collaborate with the Primary Learning Resource Teacher, and will facilitate the IEP and Service Plan process.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s degree required in the field of teacher education or related field
• Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience

Skills:

• Professional working attitude and collaborative approach
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills

Abilities:

• Ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with supervisor and instructional staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Models Catholic spirituality, attitudes, and behaviors

Prerequisites:

• Bachelors in Education or related field
• WI teaching license, regular education 
• At least 5 years experience teaching Reading at the elementary/middle school level
• Reading license or willingness to obtain Reading license, a plus
• Practicing Catholic preferred

Duties:

• Teach small group and one-on-one students who need intervention
• Provide push-in support for classroom teachers as needed
• Work with Primary Learning Resource Teacher to identify and assess EL students
• Coordinate testing (Fountas and Pinnell, MAP Testing, Forward Testing)
• Facilitate referrals to public school districts for IEP evaluation
• Oversee the development of Service Plans for students and collaborate with teachers and families 
• Utilize data to plan and teach intervention lessons for students
• Plan, support, and lead professional development as it relates to standardized testing, student intervention, and best practices in education
• Attend all faculty and in-service meetings
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal

ADA Physical Requirements:

• The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
• The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
• Close vision is required for paperwork and computer.
• Must be able to utilize a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
• Must be able to function in an office environment and use standard office equipment.
• Must have the ability to lift 20 pounds.
