Job Description

EmergeX is looking to hire a Generative AI engineer with experience building complex AI applications using state-of-the-art tools. This role will initially be contract-based but can develop into a staff position.

We are tackling a genuinely novel problem by drawing on aspects of a symbolic AI approach proved out in prototype but constrained by the technological limitations of the time. Our methodology reaches far beyond computer science and LLMs in that we are marrying concepts from domains like evolutionary biology, cognitive science and neuroscience to harness the emergent power of today's AI ecosystem and beyond.

The goal is admittedly ambitious, but we are well-positioned to succeed and are approaching a period of heavy implementation work.

You: 

• Have demonstrated experience in implementing complex AI systems using some of the new generative AI-based tools and stacks.
• Are familiar with the current engineering landscape in the generative AI space.
• Can write, ship, and maintain healthy Python as your day-to-day work.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with our CTO to design and develop our MVP using AI-driven and test-driven development best practices.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in NLP and AI technologies, and identify opportunities to apply them

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Minimum of two years of developer experience
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with LLM prompt engineering
• Experience building complex applications with the OpenAI API or other LLMs
• Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Are excited by philosophical discussions, computational cognitive science or the idea of building an AI being
• Master's Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering or related fields 
• Experience with knowledge graph retrieval 
• Experience with graph databases and graph theory
• Knowledge of classical NLP
• Experience building LLM agents
• Fluency with machine learning, deep learning techniques and LLM fine tuning
