Description needs the bandwidth to support multiple high profile projects while delivering in the OSP space as well. The technicians will be working with other full time team members in commercial or outside plant environments.Depending on experience, the following responsibilities will include: The technician will be troubleshooting and installing low Voltage and structured cabling related work. A day to day consist of: Reporting to office around 6:30 AM - 7:00 AM. They will sit in a team meeting that involves the scope of the project and what they are looking to complete at the specific project. After the the meeting the techs will then head to the sites in the company van/truck with other team members. The workload right now is putting most technicians at anywhere from 5-10 hours of overtime. Breakdown of day to day skills and experience: - The Technician will prep and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas and perform other repairs as needed - Proficient with fiber connector prep and installation. Proficient with fiber test equipment. Initiates test and turn-up procedures - Fabricate, assemble, and install cable pathways including cable trays through facilities, trenches and manholes. - Install, splice, terminate and test vertical backbone and horizontal fiber optic and copper cable systems. - Including fusion splicing and pigtail splicing, and installing fiber connectors. - Cable Installation: Must have a clear understanding and be able to install cable in aerial, underground, and inside plant environments. - Perform ring/hot cuts. - Install fiber closures, terminations, connectors, patch panels and related materials - Bond and ground fiber cables according to client specifications. - Must have a clear understanding of the OTDR, both operation and evaluation of information received. OTDR-must be able to read traces and determine whether specifications have been met both overall and per event(connector or splice), determine if events appear where there should not be any in your cable plant. - PCS UTILIZES CORNING FUSION SPLICERS: M-90, X-77, I-LID, AND OPTI-SPLICE LID FUSION SLICERS Skills Fiber optic, Fiber optic testing, Fiber optic splicing, OTDR, Troubleshooting, bicsi certified Top Skills Details Fiber optic,Fiber optic testing,Fiber optic splicing,OTDR,Troubleshooting Additional Skills & Qualifications Must be able to take feedback and training. Ability to follow instructions and take coaching from peers, colleagues, etc. It is important the technician understands they can be working long hours. PCS wants techs that will become FTE.
