**Job Description**

Within Takeda, the Parenteral Drug Product Development (PDPD) group is responsible for formulation development of synthetic and protein therapeutics from animal toxicity study to human clinical trials as well as commercial launch. The group is also responsible for the development of final drug products as well as developing and scaling manufacturing processes to global manufacturing sites.
The summer intern will work with members of the parenteral drug product development group to plan, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments to develop an overall understanding of protein formulation, stability and manufacturing process. The intern will focus on but not limited to the understanding and quantifying interaction between various surfactants and protein biologics using QCM.
Through the project, the intern will gain extensive hands-on experience on biophysical and biochemical characterization techniques for biologics including: QCM, Zeta potential, ultraviolet-visible (UV), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, light scattering, light obscuration, and microflow imaging. The intern will also have the opportunity to gain knowledge of laboratory equipment and experience with method development.
**How You Will Contribute:**
As a Biologics Formulation Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Evaluate alternative surfactants to polysorbates among FDA approved excipient list
+ Examine protein-surfactant interaction mechanism
+ Develop methods for characterizing protein-surfactant interaction
+ Cooperate and confirm experiment results using orthogonal methods
+ Help with Takeda project related study
**Internship Development Opportunities:**

+ Analyze experimental data to make conclusions and recommend additional experiments
+ Acquire hands-on experience with biophysical characterization instruments including but not limited to: QCM, Zeta potential, ultraviolet-visible (UV), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, light scattering, light obscuration, and microflow imaging
**Job Requirements:**
+ Hands-on laboratory experience (from previous internship, research lab, coursework)
+ Ability to develop and complete experiments independently
+ Strong communication skills to convey data
+ A candidate working towards their BS degree or graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, and Biological Sciences related is preferred.
+ Knowledge about protein structure, stability, kinetics, and statistics is preferred.
**Internship Eligibility**
+ Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
+ Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later
+ The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)
+ The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
+ Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
+ Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

**U.S. Hourly Wage Range:**
$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate's school year/level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
